I have visted Thames Valley Universirty. There we have had an insight to the media industry by looking at Photography, Music & Video Production!

I enjoyed Photography the most! I have always liked Photography and have some general knowledge, but the workshop helped me understand more about the actual camera, how to use lighting and angles, what makes a good self-portrait and how to enter a job with photography! I worked with Vishal, Navneet, & Tarandeep.

We worked well together and seemed to understand and communicate well with each other. Unfortunaltey we experienced a problem, nothing too serious, but a shame in out case, our memory card was very small, so small in fact that we were only able to take about 7-8 pictures, but we turned this situation around and this gave us a chance to look at editing, we looked at the pictures we had taken and concidered the good and bad facts about the picture and this enabled us to have the best pictures possibale!

After taking the pictures we had a quick break where we grabbed some refreshments and then headed for another building down the road ( about 5 minutes away) and entered a room where we were taught how to use Photoshop, we learnt about the great things Photoshop can do and what can happen when things go wrong! I think i had experienced great trouble with Photoshop, I think it is fair to say that sometimes me and technology just do not get along, I was experiencing difficulties with the programme, but this wont stop me in the fututre!

Later that afternoon, we did a music workshop, we created our own music using garageband, I worked with Navneet for this workshop. We had fun experimenting with Garageband. Music isnt something i love doing rather something I love listening to, but with an open mind I quite enjoyed the afternoon. Later in the afternoon we entered a studio and saw all the equipement you would see in a studio where famous artists record their songs, Zipo and a girl from Brentford school for girls were brave enough to allow us to record them rapping, they made it right there on the spot and I must say it sounded very good!

We have returned to Thames Valley University to do the last of the three workshops. Up until 12 o’clock we were working on Video Production. We looked at using focous and framing on the camera & lighting. I had learnt something about a 3 point lighter, where we saw how much lighting makes a difference and how movie stars work under such bright light and heat all the time! It was an enjoyable experience! We worked with two students called Ayeesha and Domonic! They were very funny and sociable but th the same time helped us understand Video Production a bit more!

Later that afternoon, we had all gathered in a big lecture room to view students work from TVU. I particularry liked a students video called Helium, unfortunatey I can not remember her name! We were given a talk about what you can expect in a course of Photography, Music & Video Production and what careers you can get from taking it for a degree. TVU was a very enjoyable and fun learning experience.

Above are pictures we took on the day we went to Thames Valley University, this was out photography workshop, a lot of us were new to photography so these pictures are our interpritations of photography! We have looked at lighting and positioning and possibaly meaning behind any of the pictures taken!
